I applied for my license to practice as a psychologist in NY state in February 09, shortly after my husband and I moved to NYC from England. I was preparing to take the exam for licensure when I was blind sided with a notice from the NYS psych board stating that my doctoral education did not meet the state requirements. After days that turned into weeks of attempting to speak to the right people and understand exactly how this could be, the reality was that the NYS psych board was not going to recognize my doctorate. I wrote an appeal and waited another 2 months to be told the same thing - no recognized doctorate in NYS.

I first encountered Baba through Wayne Dyer”s book - Manifest Your Destiny, in June of this year. I began listening to and chanting Baba’s mantra’s from You Tube, then discovered that Baba would be in Palisades, NY. I attended and stepped up my practice of meditation and chants - specifically Guru Namashivaya and the Miracle Mantra. I also began attending the Fire Ceremonies and Grace Light Meditations. Alakesh recommended the Lord Muruga chants and I looked for a Vel.

In the days after attending the Palisades workshop, I braved the NYS psych board again. I refused to accept their ruling and pursued a respectful, patient relationship with a rep from the board and politely insisted there must be some reasonable solution to this. Another couple of weeks later she asked for some documents regarding course work from my university. “Wonderful”, so I thought. My university claimed that their computer that had the docs from the years I attended had crashed and anyways - what I was trying to do would not work! This was not acceptable… I stepped up my meditations and chants and called everyone at my university including the president. LOL! A week later, I received a letter via registered mail explaining what I was trying to do would not work. I demanded some current documents (other than what the board requested) from my University and with great hesitation - they finally sent me some docs. I immediately forwarded them to the Psych Board and waited.

Alakesh gave me his Vel (wow!) and I waited and expected a miracle…

Days after receiving the Vel (it was Tuesday), the board sent me a letter - “Dear Dr. K…” I am now officially recognized as a Clinical Psychologist (with a limited license until I pass the exam) in the state of New York!

Anyone who has ever had to deal with state boards or bureaucracies can appreciate that this is truly a miracle. I was not even able to send them the docs they requested and somehow….
