A number of years ago, Datta released a CD that contained chants for Sharaba. Sharaba is a fierce form of Siva and a destroyer of negativity.
Sharaba became a close friend of mine in those days. On one occasion, he came to the rescue of a close friend of mine. This friend was a single mother who had recently bought a home in a decent neighborhood. Not too long after, she had some new neighbors move in next door. The neighbors were what most people would call a nightmare. Selling drugs, up all night, not having their garbage hauled off. There was also no fence to separate my friends house from her neighbors. My friend was becoming increasingly fearful for she and her family.
Each time I would speak to this friend, she would bring the up this issue. I became very concerned about her welfare. One morning as I focused on her plight, I was inspired to do the Sharaba chant for her. I put the CD into my headset with Datta’s voice doing the chants. I accompanied Datta’s voice. On this occasion, I was so filled with intention I couldn’t sit, but had to stand. My whole body became this chant, I could feel electricity through my arms. I continued this way for a while until it felt like time to stop. Then I just let it go. It was the best I could do.
The next day, my friend called to talk and I’d sort of forgotten about the mantra the day before. We talked about this thing and that thing, just our usual babble. Then, to my shock she revealed that her neighbors were at that moment in the process of moving away, by order of the Sherrif. I couldn’t believe it.
There are students of Datta’s who have witnessed his face becoming that of Sharaba. This will occur when he needs to help someone in a fierce way. In the past year I too have seen Sharaba on Datta’s face, I’ll see the lines across his forehead. Then I know he is going to offer his grace in that capacity.
Thank you Datta
Thank you Sharaba
