It was my Mother’s birthday in November 2006. I had her in New York City for a mother-daughter day together. The final part of our day was to attend a fire ceremony (homa) performed by Alakesh. Alakesh is one of the students in New York empowered by Datta to perform fire ceremonies.

My mother is not a practitioner of Datta’s teachings, she doesn’t meditate; however she is very open minded. She is quite adorable and innocent like a child. However, she felt compelled to have to know the chants even though I told her all she needed to do was to sit, clear her mind, open her heart and watch the fire. She sat through her first fire ceremony trying to keep up even though it wasn’t really working. We left that night and she didn’t have much to say about the event.

The next day I receive a call from my Mother. She had a pinched nerve in her back which had been causing a lot of pain. She called to tell me that the pain was completely gone and she felt it must have been from the fire ceremony! She was thrilled to know that even though she couldn’t feel it at the time and wasn’t conscious of the energy that the fire ceremony and her simply presence there had cured her back pain.

Miracles are especially magical when they happen to those you love for they are even more rewarding. I am grateful to Datta that my Mother can experience the Miracles of his Grace even if she doesn’t pray to him or practice his teachings. We are all conduits for Datta’s energy and hence his miracles. What a blessing.
