Namaste Today had been very slow at my store. I was on my way to get lunch when I stopped in the middle of the shop and chanted Shreem Brzee a few times. I went out the door and turned right but had to go back inside for something I forgot. I walked outside but turned left this time. A homeless man called my name. I had seen him around but do not know him. I turned toward him and he asked if I sold gift certificates. I said yes. He said he wanted to give a gift to someone near and dear to him. I have heard this man ranting and raving but this was an unexpected side of him. He hesitated and then asked if there was a minimum. I told him five dollars (our minimum is twenty five dollars) as I thought that might be in his budget. He said he was thinking about sixty dollars. I told him when he was ready I would wrap his gift certificate and make it special. He looked at me and asked if he could come into the shop. I told him I was on my way to lunch but would be back soon. I did not really expect him to come in. I came back in 10 minutes and the man was gone. People seemed to stream into the shop. Friends stopped by, people hugged me, a former student of Dr. Pillai’s( with a parrot on her shoulder) even came to visit. I am not sure who that “homeless man” was but the day was certainly better after our conversation. ,
